In many ways, Kara found the courage she lacked before to embrace herself fully, accepting both sides of her identity to present to the world without fear, and bringing her story as Supergirl full circle. It also allowed her to seize the opportunity to be the new Editor-in-Chief of CatCo without fear she was letting anyone (including herself) down by doing so. By taking off her glasses, Kara realized she could finally live a life that was more honest and true to who she really was. There was also the fact that the world didn’t need her as much anymore because the people had opened their hearts and minds to doing good work, saving themselves more often than they used to through that very empowerment Supergirl preached. She didn’t want to hide anymore because it meant holding herself back in so many ways she'd done that enough over the last six seasons of the show and it was very clear by the end of Supergirl how much it was affecting her.
